Launched in 2017, Nokta has become one of the most prominent media outlets in  the southern part of Moldova, in one of the regions highly exposed to disinformation. Nokta produces content primarily in Russian and targets underrepresented Russian-speaking communities in Gagauzia and Tiraspol, but has also expanded to a national level, reaching audiences across Moldova. The outlet focuses on promoting civic engagement and actively countering disinformation in politically sensitive areas. Over the past seven years, Nokta has become one of the most awarded local media outlets in Moldova, receiving recognition for its ethical journalism, investigative reporting, talk shows, and video op-eds. Nokta demonstrates a clear strategic vision for growth, with a strong audience base across platforms. In 2024, Nokta’s website reached 1.2 million visitors, and it maintained a significant presence on social networks, including TikTok, X, and YouTube, making it one of the highest-reach media outlets in Moldova’s Russian-speaking space. Funding from the International Fund supports Nokta to contiue playing a vital watchdog and explanatory role including, during Moldova’s 2025 parliamentary elections.
