Rubryka

Rubryka is a Ukrainian online media outlet founded in 2018 and headquartered in Kyiv, that is recognised as the country’s first publication dedicated to solutions journalism. The newsroom's reporting goes beyond documenting problems to examine how challenges can be addressed at the national, community, and individual level. Rubryka's journalism covers grassroots initiatives, post-war recovery, the environment, equal rights, and community development; also showing readers how effective responses can be replicated.

Founded by Anastasia Rudenko a Ukrainian journalist accredited as a trainer by the Solutions Journalism Network, Rubryka publishes in Ukrainian, English, and Russian.

Rubryka reaches around two million monthly visitors, contributes its work to the global Solutions Story Tracker, and runs specialist sub-brands such as the environmental platform EcoRubric. Through constructive, evidence-based storytelling, Rubryka aims to support Ukraine’s positive transformation while upholding high journalistic and media-literacy standards.

With support from the International Fund, Rubryka will ensure the continuity of its newsroom operations and stabilize core production and content distribution. In tandem, it will work to grow its audience, particularly among youth and interest-based groups. The outlet will also strengthen its alternative revenue streams, particularly through increasing the size of its member community through events and communication campaigns.
