DII-Ukraine has provided uninterrupted coverage across Eastern Ukraine through its media outlet News of Donbas despite the forced relocation of its newsroom in 2014 and 2022. News of Donbas is one of the biggest outlets focused on Dontesk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, maintaining ties to its audiences whether on the frontlines, displaced across Ukraine or to other countries, and even under occupation.

Another prominent initiative of DII-Ukraine is the Donbas Media Forum, an annual conference founded by the organization in 2015 that brings together media professionals to strengthen independent journalism, improve professional standards, and address the challenges of covering conflict and reintegration in Ukraine.

Funding from the International Fund has supported continued efforts to provide fact-based quality news coverage and analysis to communities vulnerable to disinformation and propaganda in the occupied regions of Eastern Ukraine and beyond, and allowed News of Donbas to develop a more comprehensive and effective digital strategy, reaching more and more audiences across the various platforms.
