Asparez.am
Asparez is a media outlet and journalists' association serving Armenia's second city and the wider Shirak province in the country's north-west. Founded in 2000 by a group of professional journalists as the "Asparez" Journalists' Club, it has grown into one of the most prominent voices for free expression and government accountability in the Armenian regions. The organisation was the first non-governmental group in Armenia to establish its own newspaper and online radio station, and though now those are defunct, it still runs the asparez.am news platform alongside long-standing work to defend press freedom, promote transparency, and strengthen local self-government.
Asparez has been a persistent advocate for the public's right to information — pursuing freedom-of-information cases and publishing community and school budget data to make local spending open to scrutiny. Reporting on regional affairs, civic life, and human rights, it remains a leading independent outlet in north-western Armenia and a recognised defender of journalists and information freedom across the country.
