Nkirote Koome

Nkirote is the Manager for Africa and the Middle East for the International Fund. She is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing grants from Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Lebanon and South Africa. Prior to her role with IFPIM, Nkirote worked at Luminate as a funding lead supporting grants and initiatives aimed at strengthening media and information ecosystems, and enhancing civic and political participation among young people and women in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Prior to her role at Luminate, Nkirote was a Regional Program Associate at the Ford Foundation’s Office of Eastern Africa, where she supported grant-making through research. There, she was part of the core team that developed #AfricaNoFilter, a donor collaborative focused on shifting stereotypical narratives about Africa by creating nuanced and contemporary stories. Nkirote has also previously worked with the Clinton Foundation.
