Arturo Wallace

As Manager of The International Fund’s What Works Unit (WWU), Arturo plays a central role in advancing the organization’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning agenda. He draws on extensive experience across academia, journalism, and international development to ensure that IFPIM’s strategies and investments are grounded in robust evidence and practical insight.
Before joining the Fund, Arturo was BBC Media Action’s Media Development Advisor and the technical lead of its flagship media development programme. This role built on nearly two decades as a journalist, mostly with the BBC. A former lecturer and researcher in media and communications, A Nicaraguan national, Arturo has consulted for numerous international development agencies and also co-founded, managed, and edited Nicaragua’s first free newspaper.
Throughout his career, Arturo has combined a deep commitment to the public interest with a multidisciplinary understanding of what enables independent journalism to flourish—values that lie at the heart of IFPIM’s global mission. He holds a Master's degree in Media and Communications from The London School of Economics.
