Himal Southasian

Himal Southasian is an online regional magazine that produces independent, in-depth, and open-access coverage of politics, economy, culture, environment, and society across all of South Asia. For nearly 40 years, Himal has earned credibility across the region, as well as with the South Asian diaspora, for its consistent coverage of otherwise under-reported stories. As one of the few organizations reporting on cross-border topics related to politics, economics, and culture within South Asia, Himal plays a unique role in the media landscape. Today, Himal is now purely online and its stories continue to inform and hold the power to account. Himal's focus with The International Fund grant is to build its membership program with its loyal readers, leveraging on its extensive archive, cult following of its podcasts and wide reach via newsletters.
